Leslie Ford was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in English from the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and a Master's Degree in Library Science from Temple University. Leslie was awarded her Certificate of Completion in the Master's Program of Library Science at Rutgers University, where she also received her Master's Degree in Library Science. She served as the Associate Director of the Paterson Public Library for over fifteen years, two terms as President of the Paterson Library Commission, and two terms as President of the New Jersey Library Association (NJLA)
She is currently an Adjunct Professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University.
